What we do

Since 2019, we have assisted more than 500 women from more than 30 countries through a variety of programs. Our initiatives include weekly English lessons, and providing support to enhance women's skills, confidence, and networks. We also assist with job placement, facilitate business startups, and guide through navigating the Australian system. We firmly believe that empowering women enables them to create meaningful impacts in their own lives, as well as in the lives of their families and communities.

Sister Project is also a platform where migrant women can sell their art, craft and cooking to members of the community through markets and through social media. Sister Project takes a holistic approach to supporting women so that they are strengthened to look after themselves and their loved ones.

Founder and CEO

My name is Tracey Cave (she/her)

Hi, I’m Tracey Cave, the founder and CEO of Sister Project. With a rich background in teaching and community work, I’ve always been driven by a passion for working with and finding ways to empower women. My journey as a migrant living overseas has given me a unique insight into the challenges and barriers women face when integrating into a new culture. Being married to a West African man for over 20 years has also enriched my understanding of living and raising kids in a mixed culture and the complexities of establishing oneself in Australia with minimal networks and a lack of local educational or work experience.

Since launching Sister Project in 2019, alongside a dedicated team of volunteers, I’ve successfully grown the organization to support over 500 women from nearly every continent. My mission is to create a nurturing community where women can connect, learn, and thrive. Looking ahead, we aim to expand our programs and reach even more women, providing them with the tools and opportunities to succeed.

In my work hours you will often find me interacting face to face with community members and community leaders, collaborating with team members or enjoying the incredible efficiency of my new best friend, CoPilot. In my free time, I love spending quality moments with family, friends, and my dog Bugalugs. You’ll often find me pottering around the house while listening to podcasts and hopefully wont find me when I regularly escape into nature.

I thoroughly believe kindness is a currency worth investing in and that ideal business is based on building relationships and trying to find win-win results for everyone involved.

Favourite quote: "It always seems impossible until it is done," Nelson Mandela.
